Eudora 6

FreePOPs is a stand-between program. It acts as the liaison between your email client and your free webmail service provider (like Yahoo!, HotMail, GMail). This document will help you setup your Eudora mail client for use with FreePOPs.

Prerequisites:

* Latest version of FreePOPs downloaded and installed
* Eudora installed
* Internet Connection :)

Steps:

  1. If you open Eudora for the first time, then you can see a screen like the one below. Click Next to proceed.

  2. A new window like the one below called Account Setting will appear. Select Create a brand new email account and click Next.

  3. You will get a Personal Information window like the one below. In this window, type your name in the Your Name field and click Next.

  4. In the Email Address window like the one below , you have to put your email address. eg. mike@yahoo.com or sat.day@gmail.com. Click Next.

  5. The Login Name window like the one below is asking you for your login name. You have to put your whole email address here. The one you put in the previous window. Click Next.

    You might be thinking why you need to put the whole email address here, as you only put your username while checking your free webmail host through your web browser. Well, as you know FreePOPs is a middle software between your pop3 mail client and your free webmail provider and it supports multiple webmail providers through different individual plugins. So, when your mail client sends any requests to FreePOPs by sending the login name and password, FreePOPs detects the part after the @ sign and decides which plugins to use and which server to connect to. That is why you have to put your complete email ID here. Hope you understand.

  6. This window like the one below will ask you for your Outgoing Email Server address.

    Unfortunately FreePOPs does not have any support for SMTP. That means you cannot send mail using FreePOPs. To send mail you have to depend on your ISP's SMTP server or any other SMTP server. In this window put your SMTP server address in the Outgoing Server field and click Next.

  7. So, the account creation process is over. You will see a window like the one below.

    Click Finish to finish the account setup process.

  8. When everything is done, shut down Eudora and go to the folder where Eudora in installed (Usually in C:\Program Files\Qualcomm\Eudora). In this folder you will find another sub-folder called extrastuff. In the extrastuff folder, you will find a file called esoteric.epi

    Copy this file and put it into the previous folder (where Eudora.exe is located)

  9. Start Eudora again and go to Tools -> Options

  10. You will find an Options window like the one below.

    On the Category section scroll to the bottom and you will find a Ports button. Selecting the Ports button will open some advanced fields on the right. In the POP Port (110) field you have to put 2000. Click OK and use Eudora with FreePOPs!
You are ready to use FreePOPs with Eudora now. If you still have any problems we strongly recommend you use our user forum.
